Roundtable Day of Service with Rebuilding Together

Urban Green Lab is delighted to partner with Rebuilding Together Nashville to offer our first Corporate Sustainability Roundtable Service Day!

We are so excited to offer a new way for Roundtable members to learn, connect, and most importantly, serve.

Roundtable members are invited to serve with Rebuilding Together Nashville to make a house a more efficient, comfortable, and sustainable home for a Nashville homeowner in need of a little help.

This event is especially for Roundtable members and there is a limit to how many volunteers are needed, so please be sure to sign up soon if you plan to participate. Sign up here.

About Ms. Mahmoud and her home:  Ms. Mahmoud is originally from Palestine but moved to the United States more than 20 years ago with her husband. She is proud of the successes of her five children who are now almost all grown. Ms. Mahmoud's husband recently suffered a stroke that has left him unable to drive a taxi to support their family.  Ms. Mahmoud drives a taxi when she is able, and their adult children and extended family help make sure their bills are paid.  Ms. Mahmoud is a proud and accomplished gardener and chef; she grows vegetables native to the Middle East so she can prepare traditional meals for her family and friends.

Ms. Mahmoud's home was built in 1955 and her monthly utility bills regularly ran $200 or more, even though she tries to limit use of the HVAC system and other electrical items.  In the winter their electric bill could exceed $450!  To address these energy efficiency concerns, Rebuilding Together has already replaced Ms. Mahmoud's HVAC system (including replacing the supply duct system), and installed new windows in her home. You will be helping with the the final stage of the project as we install attic insulation, door strips, air seal throughout the home and help Ms. Mahmoud get her impressive garden ready for the spring!

Thanks so much for your support!  We look forward to working with you!
