Urban Green Lab took a field trip to a geothermal drilling site at a new school sit in Nolensville, TN, courtesy of Kelly Coleman and his impressive crew from Mid-State Construction. What an epic day! We saw their machines in action, capable of drilling depth of 500 feet to install this closed-loop, interconnected system of heat storage and exchange. They expertly described how this renewable energy system works at both the commercial and residential scale, while also connecting it to the most basic, understandable laws of thermodynamics. We are thankful for their work, time, and passion for geothermal, and for the opportunity to experience this growing form of renewable energy in the works. Thank you, Mid-State Construction!
